The Capture Of Innocence|Portrait Photography
I start this blog by quoting the famous Mignon McLaughlin; a journalist and an author
“Only where children gather is there any real chance of fun.” There is no doubt that I thoroughly enjoy the art of child photography. And I have had the immense pleasure of being able to capture the innocence of a few wonderful children through my creative and naturally inspired child portrait photography.
It started with getting my nephews and nieces on camera, soon my friends and even people who simply liked the natural theme in my photographs started enquiring about getting photographs clicked for their children. I stumbled upon Child photography by chance as I specify above but soon I realized I cannot treat this similar to just any portrait photography.
Child portrait photography required some tactics of engagement with the little one, channelizing their restlessness was imperative and of course I had to change few practices, angles and techniques that I’d otherwise use in any of my portrait photography. This photo shoot was no different. This toddler dressed in Lord Krishna’s attire was barely a year old but was simply adorable and camera friendly.
Well, technically toddlers are more challenging to photograph, primarily because they are immobile, extremely restless and curious of everything around them. Even our little boy in this shoot started out with quite a temperament, where he wanted to kicked out his anklets, pull at his head gear and also constantly swing his little cute legs at his parents who tried hard to restrain him; while we clicked away.
Fifteen minutes into the shoot and we were all exhausted already but the excitement was rising as the little boy decided to play with his parents. Few more minutes later and the gentle caress, the warm touch, the joyous giggle and adorable hug gave us some warm and beautiful photographs. And surprisingly at the end of this child portrait photography project, I felt so fulfilled and excited to go back to my desk to view those magical moments again.
